Overview

An Index Page serves as your site's homepage or the landing page for a section (typically the index page in a folder). It introduces what visitors will find, highlights key content, and guides them to important pages or next steps.

Use this page type to:

  • Build your site's home page
  • Provide an overview of a site section (e.g., Academics, Admissions, Research)
  • Guide visitors to subtopics or supporting pages within that section
  • Establish a clear hierarchy of content under your site’s home page
  • Feature a mix of text, visuals, and calls to action

Do

  • Use for your site's home page and section index pages
  • Link to Details Pages that provide more in-depth information
  • Break up long text with visual elements such as images, billboards, or callouts
  • Use the Crimson theme to highlight the most important section on the page

Don't

  • Use for long-form, single-topic content—use a Details Page instead
  • Use for lists of people or topics—use a Card Grid Page instead
  • Use the Crimson theme for more than one section on the page
