Overview
Site Builder is a set of tools and templates used within Indiana University's Web Content Management System (WCMS).
The WCMS is IU's enterprise platform for creating and managing websites. Within this system, Site Builder provides structured page types and pre-designed components that allow units to create web pages using a forms-based interface.
What you can do with Site Builder
-
Create structured web pages
Use page types such as Index Page, Card Grid Page, and Profile Page to structure information in a way that's easier for visitors to navigate and understand.
-
Build pages with components
Add content using components like Rich Text, Accordion, and Callout, which provide built-in layout and reduce the need for manual formatting.
-
Maintain consistency across your site
Apply IU-approved design and accessibility patterns automatically, helping your site stay aligned with university standards.
-
Keep content up to dateCreate, update, and publish content through the WCMS, making it easier to maintain accurate information over time.
If you've used the WCMS or the IU Web Framework before, many aspects of Site Builder will feel familiar. It builds on the same underlying system, while providing a more structured, streamlined way to create content.
